I know I keep saying this - this year is going way too fast!
Another busy week went by very quickly. Spring break is just two weeks away. I can't wait. 😀
The fourth anniversary of buying this home was on Wednesday. I remembered it last week, then completely forgot about it on Wednesday. I didn't pay extra on the mortgage for a while, but the amount is slowly going down. The total monthly payment decreased this month because the credit union reduced tax+ insurance amount by $150/month, and also refunded the extra amount I paid last year.
A couple of days ago I filed my taxes using free e-filing available at IRS website.
After a long time, on Saturday I went to a park with a friend to watch the sunset. It was not a popular park, so there was no crowd. Then this morning I went for a walk in the nearby park. I walked for 70 minutes, and felt so energized. I should walk outside more often. Working from home keeps me inside way too much.
Today I picked two papayas, cayenne peppers, a small eggplant, mustard leaves and passionfruit leaves from the backyard. I gave a papaya to one of my neighbors.

This morning when I opened the backdoor, there was a very nice fragrance. It was then I noticed the first blooms on the Jasmine vine right by the door. It's still in a pot, and one of these days I need to put it the ground. The scent reminded me of home back in Sri Lanka. Mom has two different varieties of Jasmine in her yard.

It feels like spring is already here. The oak tree in the backyard is full of tiny light green leaves. Actually it feels a bit like early summer these days, because the temperature is in low 80s F. It's too warm.
It's 10 pm now. I'm going to make papaya juice, read an article for my andragogy class and then go to bed. 😴

Beautiful sunset! Sounds like you are really busy, but, I'm glad you were able to go outside and spend some time in the park. Continue to enjoy your harvest from your garden! I keep telling myself I should grow some chili plants, but, keep forgetting to! Hope you have a good week ahead and take care, Nil.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful sunset. It's so important to make time to get outdoors and now that our weather is improving I've really felt the benefit of it. It's another glorious day here, so I'm going to get out for a walk when I finish work. X
ReplyDeletebeautiful sunset, never tire of looking at sunrise and sunset, no two the same. Papaya juice sounds lovely, wish I could find some where I live, papaya is good for the digestion isn't it?

ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's been four years since you bought your house.. time definitely does fly! And I agree that working from home is way too sedentary, walks definitely help though.

We always have a small celebration on the anniversary of the day we moved into our house. It is hard to believe it will be 28 years this August. The mortgage was paid off years ago which made it possible for both of us to retire. The trees are starting to leaf out here as well. Despite nice sunny, warm temperatures for the last week or so, it is supposed to turn cool and rainy in the middle of the week. We need the rain! I bet your jasmine smells divine.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I don't have to do a tax return (taxes are deduced at source here for most). I remember this being really stressful from when I was still living in Switzerland. I love the fragrance of jasmine. Although nice it must be a bittersweet reminder of family not seen for a long time. I hope you will be able to enjoy the fragrance in your mother's garden in the not too distant future.

ReplyDeleteIt has been very warm here. I call it false spring because it makes everyone want to get busy planting and we generally have one last hard frost in march which kills everything that was put out too early.
