A couple of weeks ago, a very colorful bird came to one of the bird feeders. One of my Australian Facebook friends said it looked like an eastern rosella. Google says it's native to southeastern Australia and Tasmania, so the bird must be an escaped pet. He came to the feeder for 3-4 days and then disappeared. Probably he went back to his owner.

It's been raining here for days. As long as there's no rain on the way to work and back home, I enjoy rainy days. Especially because I don't have to water plants. Sweet potato vines look very happy, and are taking over two raised beds.

Sweet potato vines.

The semester is getting busier with tests and committee meetings, but I somehow manage to read and crochet almost every day.  At the end of the last semester I was elected as a campus union representative, so my two year term started this August. I've also signed up to to volunteer at the campus food bank once a month. I used to do it weekly before the pandemic, but this semester food bank has limited hours.

Today is Labor Day. The college is closed, so I did grocery shopping in the morning. I plan to spend an hour or so reading blogs and then do some crocheting.

I still cannot comment on blogs when on iPad. Even after logging in to Google, still it shows me as an anonymous poster. I only use my laptop to write blog posts and prefer reading on iPad, so sometimes I can't comment on blogs. πŸ˜• I don't know how to fix this problem.

It's raining again. Perfect time for reading. 😍

Take care everyone. Stay safe. 🌻🌻🌻

  1. Hi Nil! Since I rejoined blogger I've had problems with commenting, even on my own blog. So I believe this is due to the privacy settings on our computer's, etc. browser. Blogger must want us to be less restrictive in our privacy. On my browser side bar I went to "settings" (I use Edge, each brand will be different) and then clicked on "privacy , search and services" and changed my strict settings to a balanced level. One day that didn't even allow commenting and I switched to the lowest level of privacy, which is "basic" on my browser. Then, when I'm finished commenting, I switch my browser back to strict. good luck! Andrea

    1. Thank you Andrea. I am using Safari and changing privacy settings didn't help. I'll see if it works on Chrome.

Nice to see you back on blogland. 😊

  2. I have issues with commenting on some blogs now even from my computer. I also believe it has something to do with the privacy settings that changed a few months ago and became very restrictive. That bird is beautiful and it does sort of look like a pet- Enjoy your day off!

    1. I still can't figure out what the problem is. I checked privacy settings, but they seemed OK. I can't even reply to the comments on my own blog post on the iPad. It shows up as anonymous, and then I have to approve my own reply! :)

  3. What a beauty!
I hope you manage to sort out those problems - it must be very frustrating.

  4. That is a very colorful bird! Your sweet potato vine is looking so good and your garden must be enjoying all that rain. I wish we had some rain! Everything is so dry and brown over in my garden. Sounds like you are having a busy semester but I'm glad you are finding some time to read and crochet, daily. Have a lovely week, Nil.

    1. I wish I could send you some rain, Bless. Even now, the sky is so dark and I can hear thunder far away. Another rainy evening.

  5. When I had problems commenting on other blogs someone suggested something that worked for her which was to create a new post in draft and then leave the draft post open while she visited other blogs to comment, then delete the draft when she'd finished. Somehow this allowed her to comment. Hope it works for you. x

    1. Thanks, Eileen.

I tried, but it didn’t work. I can’t even reply to comments on my own blog under my blog name. So strange.

  6. Nil I can't comment on my iPad either. I usually can on my PC which I rarely turn on. I am using my phone at the moment so I will see if this goes through.

  7. Hi Nil, it seems that many folks have been having issues in trying to comment on blog posts. Another blogger told me she gets a message that she isn’t allowed to comment on my blog. I checked the settings and do not show any restrictions, so it’s maddening why this happensπŸ˜• Your sweet potato vines look like they are doing really well. The bird did look like an escaped pet which hopefully made its way home.

    1. I too hope the bird went back to the owner. There are two hawks nearby who often prey on other birds.

  8. I know how you feel. For some reason, if I send a photo from my mini ipad, it doesn't show up on my Ideapad. I have no idea why, or where the photos are going...sigh.

    1. That's frustrating.
Photos on my phone and iPad automatically upload to Google Photos, so I have access to them through all devices.

  9. The commenters who mentioned the new default privacy settings are probably right about the problems with commenting. When I changed the settings, it fixed the problem at least on Chrome on my IPad.

Your semester sounds pretty typical so far. Labor Day still seems like the biggest milestone of the year even though we have retired an stopped being on our lifelong academic schedule.

  10. I had that same issue with Blogger for a while. It was so frustrating. I’m not sure what fixed it for me, but I hope yours gets fixed soon too. That bird is beautiful!

  11. That's so weird. I called tech support for some help with my Ideapad, and they were fabulous. My camera had disappeared. Now it's back. Computer problems can be very frustrating.
