Weekly Chit Chat

Several good things happened this week. 😊

I was able to get the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. One of our college campuses was a federal vaccine site, and the administration strongly encouraged us to get the vaccine. I did not experience any side affects other than a sore arm. The next dose is in three weeks. My mom and one of the sisters also got their first dose a week ago.

Early in the week I received my tax refund, and yesterday (Friday) the stimulus check. The stimulus check was really fast.

Spring break starts on Monday. Tomorrow I plan to grade two lab assignments and a test. I have to go over more than 140 applications for the campus president search, participate in two discussions in andragogy class, and turn in some paperwork for fall semester, so it's going to be a busy week.  Maybe I should make a daily schedule. I tend to be very unproductive when I'm too overwhelmed.

Take care everyone. Stay safe.

  3. I'm glad you, your mother, and your sister got your first shots. I get unproductive when I get overwhelmed too. Which is weird because you'd think with ALL that stuff to do I'd just be busy, busy, busy, but if I don't stop and prioritize, I get frazzled and freeze up. Have a fabulous rest of your weekend!

    1. Thank you Priscilla. I made a to-do list, now I have to stick to it. 😁
Hope your Sunday is going well.

  4. I do better when I have a list I think Its the satisfaction of ticking things off!. I hope you manage to add some time for yourself. So far vaccines are slow in Canada. We are going by age now. I'm hopeful I will be in the next slot. We are on the brink of spring here, which makes everything seem more hopeful. I enjoy getting out and walking, and its almost warm enough to sit outside bundled up with a book. That is a lot of work that you have to do. I always enjoy your blog.

    1. Thank you so much for reading and commenting, Jean.

I used to make weekly to-do lists and found it very effective. Somehow I stopped doing it after I started working from home.

Here, state vaccine sites were initially for people over 65, then they added teachers over 50 as well. I was able to get the vaccine only because our college campus was a federal site, and they gave the vaccine to all employees over 18. I hope you will be able to get it very soon.

  5. What a great week for you, Nil. I'm so happy for you that you were able to get your first vaccine shot. And how neat that your stimulus check has already come. That was fast! Mine is supposed to be here on Wednesday, so I'm happy about that.

I hope you have another good week.

    1. Thank you Belinda.
I hope you too get the vaccine very soon.
I think I got the stimulus check fast because my account is with a credit union. I heard that big banks make it available on Wednesday.

  6. I'm glad you didn't feel any side effects, other than the sore arm, Nil. I wish you could get a complete break from your work during spring break! It doesn't sound like much of a break if you are still going to be doing work-related stuff during your break! Don't forget to take some time off to just relax and do something fun!

  7. Glad to hear that you've had your first vaccine jab, and that some of your family have had theirs too.

Lists, lists, lists - that's how I keep myself on track when I feel overwhelmed. I hope you manage to get everything done.

  8. Glad that you, and your mother and sister too, have had that first vaccine. That must be a relief to you all. Our vaccine rollout has really only just begun here in Australia.

It sounds like you are going to have a very busy week, Nil. Lovely though to already have had some good things happen for you.

    Take care,
    Meg Xx

  9. That's fabulous that you already got your vaccine, tax refund, and stimulus check. I pay taxes quarterly. I should get my stimulus check by direct deposit soon, too. I think I'm in the second group. How wonderful that you only had a sore arm after your jab. I am a little nervous about side effects, but have been fine after other vaccines.

  10. We finished our taxes last week, but I am still working on my late father's taxes and his estate taxes. No stimulus check yet for us, but the others came in a timely manner so I suspect this one will as well. I am glad to read you were able to be vaccinated. Still not my turn, but Steve had both of his and did not have any problems other than a sore arm.

  14. That must be such a relief to have received your first vaccine jab, my daughter has too as she is a health worker so I am relieved about that. We won't receive ours until April probably. I hope you can afford a little splurge now that you have your tax cheque. Take care of yourself Nil.

  15. God's nectar comes in little flower-cups. Little breaks, fruit-gifts from the garden, sunsets, quiet parks, good news.
