Do you ever wonder why time flies this fast? It's the 4th week of January already!

I feel like the semester started just yesterday, but there are two tests coming up next week.

Last week was somewhat productive at home. I did the usual cooking and cleaning, two loads of laundry, ironing etc. And I had time to re-do one terrarium. I didn't buy new plants for that though. There are ferns and weeds with tiny leaves along the back fence, so I used them for the terrarium. If they die, I have more. 😊

I also cleaned one more sweet potato patch. Initially I planted them only in one raised bed. But it eventually took over three beds. I need to make more raised beds, because these 5 year - old beds are now falling apart.

I didn't wash window curtains. I'm embarrassed to say, I did look at them and thought they were not dusty. 😉

I'm still shopping for a new fridge and a convection/microwave oven. I know I'd like a side-by-side fridge with a water dispenser. That's what I have now. Probably I'll buy the same brand (Frigidaire). I still didn't see a good convection/microwave oven. Most are very expensive. I don't want to spend $500 for one. 😊

I think several months ago I mentioned about publishing a novel. Well, these days on top of all the economic problems in Sri Lanka, there's a huge market for pirated books. There are groups in social media where they scan and upload brand new books. When an author asks to remove it, these thieves basically say "no, we won't take it down. Do whatever you can." Because of this problem, some small publishing companies have temporarily stopped publishing new books. And unfortunately, my publisher is among them.

So, I don't know when my first book will be published. It was supposed to be in this May. But, I started studying about e-books. I want to learn how to self-publish and sell books on Apple or Google bookstores.

Last week's to-do list:

1) Clean sweet potato patch in the backyard.

2) Re-do at least one terrarium.

3) Wash window curtains.

This week's to-do list:

1) Re-pot and fertilize herbs.

2) Reset the old printer and donate.

3) Make a sample e-book.

Have a wonderful week, everyone. Stay safe.

  1. Your terrarium is so pretty. You would love it here as we have wild ferns growing all over the place with plenty big or small to choose from. Nice batch of sweet potatoes. That is unfortunate that your publisher has stopped publishing for the time being. Hopefully you will be able to self publish it.

  2. I am sorry to hear about your book. I hope you will find a new publisher, or be able to self publish. Curtain washing is also not on top of my list of things.... they don't get that dusty! Have a good week, hopefully the tests are not too tedious to grade

  3. I think the time is whizzing by because the earth is spinning faster on its axis, although no one has actually said so! :D I like how you get your plants for your terrarium and Froggy looks very happy with the plants! I'm very impressed by your sweet potato harvest! I'm sorry to hear that your book won't be published as planned, but, self publishing might be a very good option. Good luck with that and have yourself a wonderful week, Nil.

  5. You managed to get a lot of things crossed off your to-do list, Nil and the terrarium looks very nice too. yes, time is going by so fast at this start of a new year. Years ago, I had curtains to wash, thankfully we have none now, a benefit of living on the 5th floor of the mill apt and only facing the river.

  6. That's annoying about the book but good luck with the self-publishing if you do decide to try that option.xx

  7. Hi Nil, Lovely to read your post however I'm sorry to hear about Sri Lanka, and about the book publishing industry. I would love to know how you go with an e-book. I don't receive your blog posts anymore unfortunately so I made a point this time to take a look to see if you had still been posting. I transferred my blog over to follow-it when blogger stopped processing email subscriptions. I'll try and resubscribe to yours. I can't believe it's nearly the end of January either.
