I did clean the fridge, but I think it is dying. It doesn't stay cold. The evaporator fan doesn't run continuously. The fridge is old, so I think it's time to buy a new one. I checked Consumer Reports for their recommended models and looked around for deals.
I am looking for a microwave + convection oven. Do you have one of these combo ovens? I saw several online, but they are very pricey. I would like to replace the microwave oven and the toaster oven, and save space by using one appliance. When I lived in a furnished apartment in Paris, there was a small combo oven there and it was very useful. But I haven't seen them at stores here.
It's already the second week of the semester, and a pile of assignments are waiting for me. In addition to teaching my usual classes, I am also taking a course about online teaching. It is going to be a busy semester, but I really want to manage time better this year.
I don't have time on weekdays to do yard work, so I should have a better schedule for weekends to get everything done.
Let's see how this weekend goes.

Good luck hunting for a new refrigerator. It is so difficult to find and compare different brands at different places! But I know you'll do your "homework" and come up with a good one! We just bought an air fryer. I knew my husband would like it (he loves it) for french fries and breaded fish...(frozen, processed) nothing really healthy although it is supposed to be for healthier foods. I bought ours at Costco, and will be returning it for a more expensive one. Because ours was very cheap ($59) and cheaply made and cracked! So the only thing I can say, is do your research, and don't go too cheap like I did. andrea

DeleteI'm so glad to see another post as I do enjoy hearing what you are up to. Sounds like you are getting around to yard work. I just got a new stove after being without one for a year and only used my air fryer for roasting vegetables. Yes, it has been cold in Florida but its starting to warm up here in Miami area. Today was actually a beach day! Last week we wore coats! Have a good week.

I've never had a microwave + convection oven combo and don't know anyone who has so I can't offer any advice.

ReplyDeleteI do have a microwave/convection oven and had never used the convention feature until a couple of weeks ago when my oven decided to die. It has been a life saver and I would recommend one to anybody.
ReplyDeleteShopping for a major appliance is always time consuming, Nil, and hope you find one and also can get your old one removed at the same time. We have an advantage living in an apt, now, as replacements when needed are handled by management/maintenance. Of course, there is no choice and no shopping to be done as when we owned our own home. We went for several years without a microwave, but when the apt kitchen was redone, one was added. We bought our own combo toaster type oven/air fryer, which works fairly well although admittedly we use the oven features more often than the air fryer. Space is also a concern in our galley style kitchen.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like you will one busy lady for the next semester. I also hate shopping for appliances. We are having a devil of a time with our 2 year old dishwasher right now. The thought of having to replace it upsets me. During the lockdowns I audited a variety of classes on line. One on Richard III, one on Quakerism, one on the Book of Kells, really anything that caught my eye. Stay warm in Florida!

ReplyDeleteI don't have one of those combo ovens but a friend of mine has and she loves it. My daughter also loves her airfryer, they aren't expensive, and during the week she uses that a lot to cook her meals, and they are healthy. I would like to buy just a small oven that fits on the kitchen counter instead of need to use my large oven all of the time. Hope you are keeping warm
