Did you see supermoon this week? This month's full moon is the closest and therefore largest supermoon of the year.
I also took several photos of the next morning's sunrise. I had to play with different settings of my camera. I bought this camera over a decade ago, and I still don't know some of the fancier settings.

It has been a hectic week. One of the colleagues got sick, and I took over their classes. So now I have more work. My stress level went up again, but I am glad that I can help the colleague. When my dad passed away, the entire department was extremely helpful. The dean told me not to worry about my classes at all, and go home to my family. And other colleagues stepped in to teach my classes. So I am glad to be able to reciprocate.
Dad has been on my mind more often lately. April 4th was his 4th death anniversary. And his birthday was in March. He would have been 73 years old.
Sri Lanka has a nationwide curfew to fight COVID-19. My sisters work from home. There are 198 confirmed cases and 7 deaths so far. Can you believe there are people who think they can't get COVID-19 from people they know? So they try to visit friends and relatives who live nearby. 😠 And get arrested. I asked Mom not to open the door to any visitors no matter how well she knows them.
Today I received the 2nd box from Misfit Markets.
I already cooked kale, green beans, yellow squash and apples. I love Granny Smith apple curry.
I thought about taking a short break from blogging, and then decided to write a short post when I need a break from work. I also have to catch up reading my favorite blogs. I think I will read one or two blog posts while having dinner, before going back to writing exams. 😊

I was able to catch a glimpse of the supermoon (pink moon?) one night, but, the next night, the clouds blocked it. You sound like you are swamped with work, but, it is kind of you to help out your colleague, especially as they all helped you when you needed it. That's what builds a community, isn't it? Colleagues helping each other, neighbors helping neighbors.
ReplyDeleteWith both your father's birthday and death anniversary being so close together, I am not surprised that he's been on your mind, lately. Especially with you being concerned about your mother and sisters and perhaps the fact that you are not planning to go home, this summer (you usually have his almsgiving when you go in the summer, don't you?). My father's birthday was in March and my step-father's birthday was last week. I just said some prayers for them to be at peace. I've been dreaming of my mother, too, almost every night (her death anniversary was in February). Last night I dreamt that I was packing my suitcase to join my mother and her cousin (both of whom are dead) and I told my daughter that I hope that wasn't a premonition of things to come! :D
Those vegetables and fruits look quite fresh and good! Do you get to request certain produce or is it whatever they have? My daughter used to subscribe to something called Imperfect Produce, and she could check off the things she was OK with them sending her and they used to send her a box of whatever was available of the stuff she checked off. Ooh, I have seen a recipe for Granny Smith apple curry, but, haven't made it! I have some GS apples - should try that!

DeleteI can’t choose produce for the box, it depends on what is available. However I can add snacks as extra. It’s a mystery until I open the box, and strangely I find it’s fun. 😁
Nice looking veggies. Unbelievable what some people will come up with when it comes to Covid-19. Your moon picture is beautiful. You must have a better camera than I do because mine weren't as nice. 💖

ReplyDeleteI haven't been here in a while. It's so nice to see those wildflowers, that little visiting turtle and those greens and fruit which you can order in. We all need these little things whether we realise it or not.
I never thought it possible but life under stay-home orders is really busy. Happy busy, that is. I'm not too good with this working online thing, it's like being on call the entire day. Also, a lot of time is spent trying to get the hang of it. Hope I'll be in a better place by the week's end.
It's Easter Sunday here and I was at my window looking out when I tried to recall how Easter was last year. That was when I remembered Sri Lanka and that terrible day. And then, I thought of you.

It's worrying that some people fail to understand that social distancing applies to everyone and that, for the time being, you can't meet with people who don't live in the same house as you. I hope your mum and family in Sri Lanka can stay safe.

My neighbors seem to be taking the situation seriously, but I read about some having parties etc in other areas of the town. I can’t understand their mentality.

Didn't get to see the moon. We had a bad thunderstorm which blew in and a tornado fairly close. So I appreciate the picture. I have a camera too I can't figure out all the setting on, it's a learning curve. Have a beautiful day. Stay well.

Your produce box doesn't look misfit to me!! Granny Smith are my favorite apples-tart, sweet and crunchy. Those of us in Southern California missed the full moon because of the massive rain we had all last week. Sunnier weather ahead though. Good luck with teaching the extra classes. Stay safe and well.

Crazy that people believe those rumors about the virus. In Mexico some were told that they wouldn't get it if they were poor...only the rich who travel would get sick. I just shake my head...

I hope you have had some time to enjoy things in and around your home over Easter, Nil. I know I miss my family very much, they live over 2000km away, but Sri Lanka is a whole country away! It is hard to be so far away and unable to visit during these times.

That's nice that you can help your colleague, but that's gotta be stressful adding more work on top of doing all of your own classes online. I loved the moon and veggie pics...I don't think they look like misfits at all!

We never saw the moon, but not for lack of trying as it was obscured by a cloud cover😕 The veggie delivery looks good, Nil, and I bet you are waiting for your own veggies to be ready as well. Coincidentally, the anniversary of your father’s passing is the same as my brother’s birthday. Glad you are able to keep in touch with your family as we have been doing as well, perhaps a bit more often than before. Blogging offers a needed diversion for many even if onky reading posts. And since it’s my onky form of social media, I would miss it. Hope the course load doesn’t get too overwhelming.
