After reading Bless's attempt at having 30 different plant based food a week, I wanted to try the same.
You can find more information about it in this article.
As Bless explained in her post, each different plant based food counts as 1 point, and herbs and spices count as 0.25 points. You cannot count the same food twice.
Here are some examples of plant foods. This image is from the same article mentioned above.
I started the challenge on Wednesday July 17th.

I usually eat leftovers often. So, even though they are mostly plant based, I didn't count them multiple times.
Can flaxseed oil be counted as nuts? I am not sure, so I didn't include it. I always add pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and flaxseed oil to my morning juice. I also didn't count Enoki and seafood mushrooms as two different foods.
I am pretty happy to know that I eat a variety of plant based foods and plan to make a conscious effort to add more plant based foods to my meals.

You did great with the 30/week challenge, Nil! You certainly ate a variety of plant based foods. I need to make it a point to eat more vegetables!
ReplyDeleteCrumbs it all sounds a bit complicated for me :=)
ReplyDeleteGood for you.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if one counts different salad leaves - I have about five different kinds growing in a pot. And I reckon flaxseeds count - why not? xx
That's a great way of increasing your plant based foods. And that first dish looks delicious. Xx
ReplyDeleteWow, Nil. Your diet sounds amazingly healthy. Mine is much more repetitious than yours. I do eat a huge variety of plants, though.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Nil! How wonderful to eat such a variety of plant-based foods. I thought of trying the thirty a week challenge too. Great idea
ReplyDeleteOh, this is my kind of challenge! I love how many plant based foods you were able to get in, Nil.
ReplyDeleteNil, I don't plan any meals, so your planning is very ambitious and good for you on eating more plant-based foods. I suspect I would never come close to 30, but do have fruits when blended into a smoothie at least 3X a week. I always mix a variety of blueberries, peach, cherries, banana and add yogurt and low-fat milk with an added dash of cinnamon and a bit of honey.
