Update: I turned on ‘block all cookies’ on Safari settings, then turned it on again. Now I can comment using my Blogger name. Whew!
Thank you so much for the tip, Andrea.
When I use Safari web browser I can’t comment on other blogs, under my blogger name (Nil @ The Little House by the Lake).
When I try to comment, these are the options I see.
I used to see my Blogger name. Yesterday before I realized there was a problem, I commented on a couple of blogs using ‘comment as Google account’.
I logged out of my Google account linked to Blogger, and logged in again, but I still have the same problem.
This doesn’t happen with Google Chrome.
If you use Safari, have you experienced this?
I use Edge. A couple months ago I couldn't comment on others or my own. I discovered that I had to unblock all my cookies in order to comment. Which is annoying because I block 3rd party cookies. So I have to unblock all cookies, comment, and then put my settings back to block so I can be safer on the internet. Andrea
ReplyDeleteI hadn’t blocked cookies. After reading your comment, I blocked them and then Google didn’t let me sign in. So I unblocked cookies and then logged in. Now I can comment on my own blog and on other blogs using my Blogger name. Thank you Andrea!
DeleteIt’s the opposite of your problem. Safari doesn’t have a separate ‘block 3rd party cookie’ option, so I have no idea what went wrong. Anyway, it seems to be working now. 😊
Glad you fixed it! They must've changed something at some time...and at different times. I suspect it has to do with getting marketing info out of our activities. Glad I could (somehow...ha..) help. Andrea
DeleteNil, I am using Safari now so hopefully this goes through. I haven't had that problem so far.
ReplyDeleteChel, I turned off and on block cookies setting and it somehow solved the problem.
DeleteI haven’t this exact problem, but a different one, Nil. Sometimes, my blogger dashboard goes away and reverts to one where you have to sign in. After contacting blogger support, an expert user told me that cookies on some sights could be to blame. So, now when this happens and it has again, I go into Manage Preferences and clear out as many websites as I do not recognize and then the dashboard is back. It is a real pain to have to do this, but I have another workaround. I use Firefox to comment on other bloggers post and Safari to post on my own because sometimes Firefox messes up with front sizes and image placement.
ReplyDeleteGlad to read your issue was resolved.
In case it happens again, I’m going to use Chrome. I’m glad you have two options. I wonder why cookies on Firefox does not cause the same problem.
DeleteHi Nil. I clear my cookies and history regularly, this usually solves the any issues I have. It is a bit of a pain if you are not in the habit of bookmarking favourite places and all saved passwords need to be re-entered, too. Glad you solved the problem x
ReplyDeleteI just had the same problem again on Safari. I don’t want to clear cookies multiple times a day, so I’m going to use Blogger on Chrome.
DeleteI've had problems like Beatrice has, but using Chrome . . . and only intermittently, so I keep thinking it's something I'm doing wrong/mistyping. Whatever it is that happens, it's WEIRD!
ReplyDeleteIt’s annoying, isn’t it? I tried searching Google for a solution, but couldn’t find any.
DeleteDid you publish about this issue, before? Like late yesterday maybe? I did not read of this problem, and I _did_ comment on your last-seen-by-me post.
ReplyDeleteAnd there seems to be no way, to simply go-back-to-last-post, on this setup, you are now using. -sighhh- Another blogger uses it too, and I have the same problem there.
Whyyyyyyyy does Blogger offer these setups, which are not, not, not simple??????? -sigh- They look *Fancy* and *New*. But are _not_ easy to navigate, by Dear Readers.
I use old Firefox. Only problem I have is, can not easily comment on Word Press blogs. Have to fill in allllllllll the needed info, every time I want to comment on WP. So, I just don't follow WP blogs anymore. -sigh-
Wisps if words, if you click the name of my blog on the top of the page, it will take you to the homepage where you see previous posts.
DeleteI have read one Word Press blog, and yes you have to fill in the info every single time. I wish all these platforms were compatible.
Ohhhh, thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!! For telling me how to navigate this issue.
DeleteGentle hugs.....
I have given up trying to understand the whys and hows of how the different platforms work. I guess I am just and old dog. Like Phyllis I find with Chrome there are intermittent issues.
ReplyDeleteI know Anne. I gave up trying to figure out the issue with Safari.
DeleteI have problems posting with Safari too and it's the one the school system uses here. I normally use Google as it gives me the least amount of problems.
