We had a cold weekend. Right now its 54 F (12 C). That's very cold for me. As I write this, I'm wearing two sweaters and socks. 😊
Because of the cold weather, I didn't do anything in the yard. I bought several herbs (cilantro, rosemary and mint), but was too lazy to plant them. I took them and the night Jasmine plant inside, though there's no danger of frost.
Basically I didn't do much, other than making lesson plans and doing regular housework.

I tried several recipes. I had a can of condensed milk, so I made a caramel custard. I wanted to turn it over onto a plate, but it broke. 😕 But I ate it anyway. After eating custard for several days, I weighed myself, and it's still less than 100 lbs. I'd like to think it's because of exercising. I use the exercise bike about 4-5 days per week, each time at least 1.5 miles.
I baked a fillet of steelhead trout. I bought it fresh, because I can never cook frozen fish properly. The fish turned out really well, and moist, unlike frozen fish.

I also baked turkey wings, but I baked it too long, and it got tough. I cut it up into small pieces and added to a salad.
I spent a bit too much time on Facebook and reading news. There was a presidential election in Sri Lanka this past weekend, and the impeachment hearings are going on in the USA. So there's a lot of political drama in both countries that kept me a bit too occupied. 😵
Two more weeks until the end of the semester! I can't wait. 😊
Have a great week everyone.
This week's to-do list:
1) Update the financial documents folder. - Not done.
2) Declutter the spare room. - Not done.
Next week's to-do list:
Same. 😄

My grandfather grew Brussel sprouts in his garden and I remember how amazing I found them. I still love them to this day. I know you're excited bout the end of the semester! I hope it goes by quickly for you. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never grown Brussels sprouts, so I hope these plants do well. :)
Delete54F is cold for me, too, Nil. I'd say you did a lot between lesson plans and housework. Plus trying out new recipes. You made caramel pudding! Yum! I don't think I've been under 100 lbs. since I left SL. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteYes, there's been a lot of news happening this week, hasn't there?
Hope you have a good week ahead. Any plans for the winter break?
I've planned several day trips with friends, and I'd like to start crocheting a top. But I should get too ambitious. LOL
DeleteIt's very cold here this morning. I will need to defrost the car. X
ReplyDeleteThough I love to see snow, that's one thing I'm glad that I don't have to do. :)
DeleteWow, you are really getting a lot of use out of your exercise bike. That's fantastic. I love the effects of cardio.
ReplyDeleteHehee not as much as I should Stephenie. But I'm getting better. :)
DeleteYes, when the weather turns colder it's hard for me to get motivated to do stuff too. But when I think about it, I appreciate winter because it makes me love summer even that much more! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good way to look at it, Priscilla. Here summers are very hot and humid, but I love cooler spring season. :)
DeleteYour plants look so green and healthy! That is a neat bird! I was under 100 lbs 40 years ago...lol Andrea
ReplyDeleteLOL I'm trying to train my body to burn calories before my metabolism changes too much. :)
DeleteCold weather definitely calls for cozy clothes, custard, and not much else.
ReplyDeleteThat's very true, Julie. :) And hot chocolate!
DeleteYour new pants look great. I love herbs, and those are favorites of mine.
ReplyDeleteThe trout looks yummy. The only way to enjoy cold weather is with layers of clothing and warming drinks and hearty meals. :)
plants, I meant plants. LOL
DeleteLOL. That made me laugh.
DeleteI do wear long pants now, sometimes it's too cold to wear short skirts. :)
Beautiful herbs and such a yummy meal! Have a lovely week☺
ReplyDeleteThanks Natalia. :)
DeleteI take it, that you are trying to gain weight... Being under 100#. Perhaps you might not exercise, quite as long? And have you had a medical checkup? Could you be anemic or some such?
ReplyDeleteI don't remember reading about this, here, before. So I really shouldn't comment. -smile-
✨🌲✨
That's what my family says - not to exercise too much, Wisps. I don't have any health problems. I've been always skinny. I'd like to do exercise to stay fit, because I know my metabolism is slowing down as I age. It's better to train the body before it's too late. :)
DeleteI am also wearing socks and sweaters and we have the fire on... it is a mere -1C tonight. Not pleasant. The forecast is for warmer soon, but unfortunately, this means wet in the West of Scotland. I am a hot weather lover and can't wait for the winter to be over....
ReplyDeleteSometimes, a relaxing weekend is just right. A bit of cooking, a bit of pottering around, perfect. Your trout looks good, it is one of few fish that I really like. I am with you on frozen fish, it never cooks quite right.
Have a lovely week x
Brrr -1C is way too cold for me. :)
DeleteBaked trout is so yummy. Most often it is served fried which is a disgrace to such a noble fish. Keep warm!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried fried trout. :)
DeleteIt's already warming up here, Anita. Florida weather!
A lazy weekend is OK and reading this post it doesn't seem that you have not been doing anything, Nil. I hope the plantings will give you some nice herbs.
ReplyDeleteI tend to kill herbs often, Beatrice. Especially cilantro. I hope these will grow well.
Deletehi Nil
ReplyDeleteyour trout and asparagus look delicious. your little seedlings are so cute. i gave up growing herbs etc as the bush turkeys and possums eat them! we are in the midst of hot dry weather with lots of bushfires, and no rain in sight. the dams are getting very dry too. let's hope for rain soon. cheers sherry
I hope you are safe from bushfires, Sherry, and hopefully it will rain soon.
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you R's Rue. :)
DeleteCold is good -we had the hottest November day EVER last week! And quiet weeks are good too.
ReplyDeleteI've reading about fires and very hot weather in Australia, earthmotherwithin. I hope you are safe.
DeleteI love all your fresh herbs. We have a duck like the one in the photo. When I go near him he wags is tail. I'm not sure if that means go away or I'm happy to see you..
ReplyDeleteHaha ducks can be pretty aggressive.
